Hi I've just had surgery again today to remove another BCC by my right temple. I didn't have to have a skin graft They've stretched my skin from my cheek (cheap face lift) to see the area up. They'e told me I willbhave a zig zag scar (aka Harry potter scar) running from my eyebrow to top of my cheek about 30mm in length so quite long. I also have a scar in middle of my forehead from removal of BCC 3 years ago which is 20mm running down middle head and 30mm (they did a flap) . Initially I had a fringe to cover forehead scar while it settled now it doesn't bother me too much as quite neat scar. However I work in a secondary school and need to keep hair up (nits) so will be consious of the new scar on my face and teenagers can be cruel. Does anyone know any good foundations I could use that won't make me look orange or caked in it that will conceal the scar while healing. Many thanks x
I am experimenting with makeup to hide the red graft on my nose. I use natural cosmetics that have an SPF rating from Jane Iredale. I use their color corrector, concealer, foundation and mineral powder. The trick is getting the color right. On that web site, there is a tool to help the customer decide what shade to use. I also bought a concealer from my hair dresser who is also a makeup artist. He got the color just right. There is also a salon near me that teaches makeup to cancer patients, so I might go sometime to learn more tricks.

Thank you thinking positive for the link will check it out. Like it has SPF in it. If you find any makeup tips let me know. Am thinking I might need to enrol in hair and beauty course to learn to bring out all good features to deflect off the scars as I mainly just used to put mascara on unless went out in evening then the trowel method was hidden by club lighting and eye on effect of the 80's
Thanks again appreciate the advise

Hi Randomrae12
Sorry to hear that you’ve had to have another bcc removed.
I have recently had MOHs surgery to remove an infiltrative bcc above my mouth.
I can highly recommend oxygenetix liquid foundation. I would suggest you order a sample pack for £5, which has 14 shades. The full size is around £45, so not cheap.
It has SPF25 and is formulated for sensitive skin and promotes healing.
I was recommended to use it by my friend who had a face lift last year.
I wore it last week for a night out and it totally covered my red scar area. No one could tell I’d had surgery 5 weeks ago.
Good luck and I hope you have a quick recovery.
X
Hi randomrae12
Dermacol film studio make up cover is wonderful! You can buy it online and they have loads of different shades. Pretty reasonable price with excellent long lasting coverage. I have a large scar from my nose down my cheek following an SCC removal and you can hardly see it at all with this.
Best wishes
Irene
Hi Unicornsarsreal.
Thanks for your suggestion. The recovery has been slow. My eye swelled shut I looked like I'd been fighting Rambow lol. I felt dizzy and nauseous if stood up or moved head too much, only just subsiding now. Guessing as in such a tender area being by the temple the recovery will be slower than my forehead op was. Main thing is it's gone. Stitches out on Tuesday so will see the damage then. Will get sample like you suggested.Another person recommended another product which I'm waiting for to arrive so will try both out.
Thanks so much again
Forgot to mention that when I first wanted to venture out, I received some excellent help from Changing Faces - they met with me and skin matched their make up with my face. They were absolutely brilliant and their make up is wonderful! You should find out if there is a Changing Faces near you!
I had an operation on the bridge of my nose that left a small scar. It's not noticeable, but I want to get rid of it. Some scars look aesthetically pleasing and complement a person's appearance, but this is not my case. As far as I know, the scar can be removed with a laser. We don't have such a clinic in our city. So I turned for help to my friend, who owns a beauty salon in the neighboring state. There they provide various cosmetic and grooming procedures. My friend is a cosmetologist. She graduated from a beauty school and has a specialist diploma. At nwcollege.edu, you can check out training programs. It is a relevant profession at the moment.
Former member Boots No 7 have cancer make up advisers is some of their stores, I would check to see if yours does. I use No 7 Protect and Perfect factor 50 sun cream after my serum and moisturiser. I then use No 7 Protect and Perfect all in one foundation which comes in loads of shades. Not saying it covers scars b ut at least I know my make up is protecting me. Good luck and keep in touch with us all x
My husband had a SCC removed from his scalp a few years ago, leaving a round indentation on his bald head. He was/is very self conscious about it so the kind doc on plastics referred him for camouflage makeup. He spent a pleasant couple of hours having the hospital photographer/makeup consultant find the perfect colour match and was prescribed the make up, sponge, setting powder and some thinner for makeup should it dry out. It hides the scar quite well. Might be worth enquiring about having this?
