Hi back in February I noticed a mole/spot getting bigger , so appointment was made with doctors, one doctor said nothing to worry about, but I asked for dermatology opinion, this was later cancelled by my doctor, no reason given, weeks later the mole had grown again so another appointment was made with doctors, but i didnt get to see a doctor so I included photos in the econsult, i was informed by text they thought it was a bowen lesion and was told to collect Bascellex cream from chemist and apply for 12 weeks, ie use 3 times a week. within weeks the mole become very angry looking and sore but again i was told in text that is the way the cream works. I made a doctors appointment seen by lady she was very shocked and said it had ulcerated and i was told to stop using the cream, and took photos and sent them onto dermatology, I was later informed dermatology did not wish to see me,
So no biopsy and no appointments at all with dermatology.
Im now into the 8th week of treatment, using Bascellex 50 mg/g cream is a topical formulation of imiquimod,
during this time I've had night sweats, very dry mouth, waking up with burning tingling throughout body, basically not feeling good at all, extremely tired all the time.
Hence, my mole has flattened off and healed well, im now about to make an appointment with doctor to see if I have to do another 4 weeks. Ie making it a full 12 week course.
Anybody else had to do a 12 week course and had the side effects like this, as it has me exhausted.
Hi Kirsty1 and a very warm welcome to our corner of the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I haven't had Bowen's disease or been treated with Bascellex, but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
