My husband had a bcc on his left temple. He had it removed by excision in December and recently was given the all clear. However, this weekend we noticed a red and brown spot in the middle of the scar. We will make an appointment as soon as but in the meantime has anyone been through this. Any advice. Thank you.
Hi jaejae and a very warm welcome to our corner of the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I've had a BCC but not one that's recurred where the previous one was removed. However, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet so responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hi, I have had Mohs surgery on the same site, my eft temple twice. Once for a nodular BCC and a year later for recurring superficial BCC on the edge of the previous would. The second operation was much more invasive and although it seemed to be healing ok, after 5 months I also had a red and brown spot on the wound. This turned out to be a late colonisation of the wound and still have symptoms of this 9 months after the operation. It has been seen on numerous occasions by my consultant and it appears that this is highly unusual. It has been monitored throughout by the wound clinic in dermatology. Would advise having your husbands spot checked out.
Thank you for your reply. We have got an appointment to see the dermotolgist in two weeks and see what they say. I will keep you updated. Thank you xxx
That's good to hear you have an appointment in 2 weeks. Hope it goes well and let me know how you get on with it.
