Teledermatology and biopsy 2 week pathway

Hi

sorry if this question is in the wrong section?
I recently had a Teledermatology appt in the 2 week pathway requested by my GP.  I am now in the 2 week pathway for a incision biopsy and have no idea what they think the diagnosis is? My question is, do they already know from the teledermatology or would it be inconclusive? I have had MOHs surgery in the past for BCC and am immunosuppressed due to biologic therapy for Ankylosing spondylitis so maybe they are being extra cautious? I am worrying myself silly, which is pretty pointless but just can not stand the not knowing and waiting. Has anyone gone through the same process and any words of wisdom? I am truly grateful for any reply’s. Thank you

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to our corner of the online community

I don't have any experience with teledermatology but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

I've used the group search function and found these previous posts which mention the use of teledermatology for you to have a look through.

From what I understand about the use of teledermatology, it's aim is to speed up the referral process. It means that consultant dermatologists can review many more patients by looking at photos than they could by seeing them in clinic. The outcome is the same though, ie if they're at all suspicious that the lesion could be a skin cancer then they will advise that it's removed and biopsied.

Waiting for results is a horrible time and what helped me was doing things that I enjoyed so that I had less time to worry about 'what if'.

I'll be keeping everything crossed for a good outcome for you.
