I have been refered to dermatology by my dr. Letter as follows:
would be grateful for your review of this 42-year-old lady who has noticed a few skin lesions on her left cheek and one on the tip of her nose. These are few millimetres in size with skin dimpling in the centre. The lesion on her nose has a tiny blood vessel on one side.
what relevance is the skin dimpling and blood vessel? Does it mean they are deeper? Does the size of them affect treatment options? Ie cream for smaller ones and surgery for larger ones?
any help gratefully appreciated?
Hi Lisa,
I'm not a doctor but have been there myself. First of all you need to wait until the dermatologist has a good look at the lesions. This normally involves a dermatoscopy where a magnifying glass is used to visualise the lesions. If they are anything concerning, the doctor will ask for a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. If it is a bcc, the biopsy will give information about the subtype which will determine the treatment options. If it's a superficial bbc, treatment could involve a cream.
I hope this helps.
Thankyou . Did you have to wait 12 months to be seen?
