Partner had just been diagnosed with BCC on back. He went to GP surgery but ended up seeing a physician associate. They took photos of the BCC and sent it to dermatologist asking if they can treat in practice or refer. The dermatologist replied saying looks like BCC as expected and to treat with imiquimod for 6 weeks and then return to GP after another 12 weeks after that.
it all seems to be a bit casual. Does this seem normal procedure? Any advice welcome.
Hi Kal999 and a very warm welcome to the group which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
Although I've had treatment for BCCs, mine were removed either surgically or by cryotherapy so I don't have any personal experience with imiquimod cream.
However, there are lots of people who have had their BCC treated this way and clicking here will take you to previous posts on the subject. It also appears in searches under the manufacturers name of Aldara and those posts can be read by clicking here.It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
