Hi, new group member. I have just been advised that I have a stage 3 melanoma. Was so shocked that I didn’t ask all the questions I now wish I had asked her. Been referred to a plastic surgeon. I have said that I will take all treatments that they will throw at me to beat this. From the consultation from when you get you diagnosis how long will it be before I go for my CT scans and to see the surgeon who is going to take a larger area away from where the melanoma was? I’m based in Scotland under the NHS Glasgow.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you've just been diagnosed with melanoma and I know what a shock it will have been for you having had a melanoma diagnosis myself.

I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also join and post in the melanoma forum as well, as you'll then connect directly with others who are living with a melanoma diagnosis. If you'd like to do this, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

I can't answer your question about how quickly you'll get a CT scan, as I didn't have any, but there are lots of people in the melanoma forum who have had them and will be happy to share their experiences with you.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • I’m also under NHS GGC, how long did you wait for your biopsy results?  I had my biopsy on 29th May and still waiting on my results.
