Lymphnode drainage

I had some, not all, lymph nodes removed 7 weeks ago.

All was well, even had the amazing news cancer hadn't spread, but this week the breast near the scar has become very very sensitive. I've had it checked by GP, no lumps etc.

Has anyone else had this? Could it be linked to the op?

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I've only had a total of three lymph nodes removed when being checked for spread of melanoma and breast cancer, two separate operations years apart, but didn't experience any problems with my breast becoming very sensitive.

I see you've been checked by your GP but have you brought this to the attention of your hospital team? I've had a look in your profile to see what type of cancer you have but you haven't completed it yet. However, I can see that you've also posted in the melanoma group so I'm assuming that is what you were diagnosed with. If so you should have been assigned a SCNS (skin cancer nurse specialist) and this is the sort of thing you could ring her about to discuss. She would then liaise with your consultant if necessary.

It would be great if you could pop something about about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
