Hi , I had a small BCC on forehead for about 2years , I had the pictures taken at the hospital. I thought I was seeing a dermatologist appointment so did all my research an had it in my head I would get MOHs surgery. When I arrived it happened so quickly the specialist nurse said “we will cut this out today “ no MOHs needed as it’s small and defined. Anyway it’s done and covered still with 8 stitches so god knows what’s under the micropore tape. My eyes are a bit swollen I feel really depressed as if I should have said no and insisted on MOHs . Help advice and reassurance needed please.Pray

  • Hello Tippybailey,

25 years ago I had a BCC on my chin excised  ( no MOHS ) which healed well and has not returned. It was a pearlised  type. The second one was on my nose it was an infiltrative BCC and MOHS a surgery used.

Please discuss your concerns and also try and trust the surgeon. They usually do an elliptical excision with wide margins around the BCC also not allowing any risk of leaving any BCC. May you heal well. Take care. x

  • Hi Tippybailey  Dont worry too much.  I have had two nasty bcc's removed with wide excision. I was offered Mohs surgery but my plastic surgeon said he could do them with wide excision, skin flap for one and skin graft for the other,  The results came back with wide enough margins taken and cancer free.  Have healed really well.  Not a pretty sight at first but didnt take too long to look normal again,  Hope yours goes well too.xx
