Hi everyone, I’m Keat. I was diagnosed with high-grade mucinous appendiceal cancer and had CRS and HIPEC surgery, followed by chemotherapy. Recently, I’ve been managing some challenges with small bowel obstructions due to adhesions, which led to 4 hospital stay. The pain was unbearable and only IV morphine and strong painkillers administered via IV can take the pain away. I’m here to connect, learn from others, and share support as we navigate this journey together. Undergone 5 FOLFOX cycle but my 6th cycle has been delayed due to recent hospital stay.
Hi Keat, I haven’t had any problems with adhesions but seem to have got a swelling over the left side of my abdomen which I have been told is probably a seroma which is to late to aspirate. I am waiting to start chemotherapy treatment once I have been discussed at an MDT meeting. Can you give me some information on how the chemo treatment went. Many thanks.
Hi there, Chemo treatment will depend on what type of Chemo. I had 5 rounds of FOLFOX and the side effects for me are... sensitivity to cold temperatures, tiredness and hiccups. Each round is a cycle of 2 weeks. But speaking to your oncologist nurse will help you manage expectations too.
Best wishes,
TKK
Thank you for your reply, I know everyone’s experience will be different. At the moment I am waiting to find out what my treatment will be and for how long.
best wishes
