I had CRS with HIPEC at Basingstoke in June this year, I was told the op. was successful, I lost my spleen and gall bladder but I didn't need a stoma and the prognosis is good. I will have bloods and a follow up scan after 12 months, i.e. June 2022.
We wish to make a trip to the far east next year in Feb. or March and will be looking for health/travel insurance to cover the trip. Can anyone recommend a travel insurance company that will cover patients who have had Pseudomyxoma peritonei.
Any information or advice regarding travel insurance would be most welcome.
Thanks.
Hi jcleeds and a very warm welcome to the online community
That sounds like a great trip you have planned next year but, unfortunately, it can be more difficult to find travel insurance when you have had a cancer diagnosis. I can see that you've joined the travel insurance group so take a look at the thread called 'Recommended Travel Insurance' as it's where the majority of recommendations from other forum members are.
It has been found that it's best to phone the insurance companies rather than try and do online quotes as sometimes they can refer to the underwriters to see if they would cover you when an online quote might just give you a straight refusal.
Make sure you have all the information to hand about your diagnosis and treatment before phoning. This is a list of things an insurer might want to know and some insurers might ask for a letter from your doctor to prove that they have given you permission to travel.
I do hope that you can get insurance and that you have a lovely trip.

Thanks for the welcome, but actually I have been a member for a while and posted a few times already ...... I posted this in the newcomers section by mistake. If a moderator sees fit to move the post to another section then that's OK with me, and thank you Latchbrook for your insurance advice.
