Hello ive just been diagnosed with prostate cancer and have been given active surveillance.im waiting to see a specialist with a plan going forward .im physically fit have no symptons at all.i had a psa test which came back as 4 slightly elevated so i had a mri scan and biopsy which confirmed it is localised prostate cance .my psa density was 0.09 and the tumour was on the left side of the prostat with cancer on both sides confirmed from the biopsy my gleason score was 3+4 which is why i have been offered active surveillance.i am so worried mentally and dont know which way to go regarding treatment.
Having a biopsy so quickly is amazing. What led to it?
Perhaps you could explain and edit into your profile page the story so far. It’s the green circular button top left of this page. It will enlighten us into how to advise and support. It’s anonymous so you can be detailed if you like.
put in your age, how you ended up with a diagnosis and what treatment you’re on? It’s all useful for a better understanding.
AS is the way to go at PSA 4 but are there any other signs or test results or symptoms that caused this diagnosis.
There’s no rush for a decision about AS because prostate cancer is a slow burner.
Good luck
Good Morning Davetom
A warm welcome to the group from me, although I am so sorry to find you joining us. I have responded to almost an identical post this morning in this thread:
Please do have a read through the posts on that thread and let me know what you think - happy to answer any of your questions.
.i am so worried mentally
I would give our Support Line a call - it's free on 0808 808 00 00 (8am to 8pm 7 days a week) - you will find plenty of support there - one fact to remember is 98% of men with a prostate cancer diagnosis die WITH it not OF it.
Best wishes - Brian.

Ok, I know how they work out tumour size can be a bit complicated but 42mm seems fairly large.
You should just make sure , is it near or getting near the capsule edge although one would presume not otherwise they wouldn't have put u in AS, still worth double checking though
Steve
Ok, makes more sense now.
U need to just check on tumour size in mm, no hurry cos they wouldn't have put you on AS if not contained.
Always just handy to know , to give an example my largest tumour went from 3mm to 13mm in 4 years on AS.
At that point nearing the capsule edge.
