My husband was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer feb 25 . Gleason 9 with low level mets.
His PSA was undetectable in November 2025 .
Over the weekend whilst on a long car journey my husband desperately needed to pass urine and after holding it for sometime ( as we were unable to stop on motorway ) he was in the most intense pain and wet himself . He was absolutely mortified and so upset that this had happened . Since then he has noticed a small amount of blood in his urine which has increased today .He has spoken with his cancer nurse who has advised a GP appt to rule out a UTI .
We are worried sick it is a reoccurrence.
Just after some comforting words, that it doesn't necessarily mean the worst .
Hello Drifter
Thank you for your post and yes you have done the right thing by speaking to your husbands cancer nurse. It can mean many things and yes it can signify a change in his condition. As your nurse has rightly pointed out though get the most common issue checked first. Let's hope it's nothing more than a UTI. It's also possible he's done himself some damage by holding on so long, the GP will be able to advise.
Best wishes - Brian.
