Hi,new here. Diagnosed with prostate cancer 2 days ago. Had an injection in my stomach and given 2 week course of tablets. Next is a MRI scan next week to see if it has spread into bones. All very scary stuff. Any advice going forward?
First of all you are in the right place for support and answers to help you sleep.
We are a very experienced lot and comprise of gentlemen and ladies who are in the same boat as you I respect to a daunting cancer diagnosis and treatments that are as worrying as the cancer.
Scary stuff indeed.
There are champions who will guide you from a more official and professional stance but the rest of us are of some help too.
The green circular blob with a sofa chair within it will take you to a profile page which you can use to store all your info regarding the history of you completely anonymously. It’s there we will look for a background of who you are Stevmac. It makes our answers and help that much more accurate.
One last thing, I have broad shoulders and plenty of tissues so when you need me I’ll be there.
Good luck
Hi STEVEMAC , firstly don’t panic. Easy to say but we all go through this at the start but it will soon get better. You are already on treatment so all cancer will be stopped from growing and currently shrinking. This gives time to get a full diagnosis. As Mr U said, add your profile which makes it easier for us to see just where you are. You can also look at others profiles by tapping on their name or avatar.
Best wishes, David
Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.
Hello @STEVEMAC . Welcome to the group. I’m guessing, if you have a diagnosis, if you are on hormone therapy and are going for a bone scan, you have already been through most of the worrying examination and scan / biopsy stages? As @MrU says, pop some of your test results down for the rest of us to read by clicking on your name or the chair icon. We can then offer you advice as you move forwards from our own experiences. If you wish, you can also read other people’s by clicking on their name or icon.
Yes it is all very scary at first but hang in there lots can be done, many of us on here have been there and come through the otherside. Listen to those giving your treatment and take all you can get unfortunately they get lots of practice but Will look after you With Very Best Wishes David
