I was diagnosed for prostate cancer.some four years ago at the end of Covid. It’s been a steady rise in my PSA and now reached about 18 but almost been static for the last twelve months i.e. only a small increase. I was 82 when the cancer was discovered and have just past my 87th birthdate. My condition apparently is that of a man in his late sixties or early seventies. Some discomfort riding my bike lately but nothing I cannot handle.  I had a whole body Bone scan in. January last and following a CT scan but no signs of any migration of the cancer.

  • Hi H. And welcome

So is there any plan for treatment. 18 PSA is getting up a bit, do u know what the MRI says in terms of size and location within the gland.

The more info u can give the more accurate the advice , hopefully

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • Hello

A warm welcome to the group, although I am so sorry to find you here. 87 is a grand age and to be still cycling is brilliant. (My wife banned me from cycling in 2024 after a couple of falls!!).

From your post am I correct to assume that although you have a cancer diagnosis and a PSA of around 18 you are not/have not had any form of treatment to date for this?

Sadly PSA isn't age related as on my 66th birthday my PSA was 182 - although sometimes I feel like I am over 120 years old Joy.

As Steve ( said, the more information we have, the best advice you will get.

    Best wishes - Brian

  • Hi, yes that’s right. Although there are some who say I should be having treatment I still feel fit and in fact I have difficulty in making people believe that I am actually 87 years old. I have also done a couple of sponsored walks earlier this year the longest being over ten miles. Last October I had a.consultation with the hospital Radiologist who explained that owing to my age apparently Radiology treatment was “Not possible”. No doubt the hospital hopes that Old Age will kill me off first( (Joking). My only annoyance is having to wear those B*****y “Man pads” for which I am trying to obtain a prescription!  “You stop you die” as my old sergeant in the cadets used to say.
