2 Years since advanced PC diagnosis, do not blame it all on the cancer

Hello Everyone,

I am posting in the new members section because this is where the support is needed.

On 16th November 2023, it was a Thursday, my husband Jacob diagnosed with advanced aggressive PC. Last year when I was posting on the anniversary of the first year, I described the horror, shock, numbness end of the world feeling we both had. How the nurse was explaining and her words were just flying around the room with no meaning.

2 Years gone, Jacob is under double HT and he had 6 high dose RT last year. His PSA currently is undetectable. We are fully aware that his PC is not curable but treatable.

The reason for my posting today is to say to all the newly  diagnosed people:

Please, I assure you the horror, fear and shock will subside and life will be back to almost normal. We stopped thinking about it all the time, we are not talking about it all the time, we just live our life to the full. Jacob has other health issues mainly with back pain but he carry on swimming 60 lengths 5 days a week and enjoying all the things he loves doing. Life is good!

We booked a big holiday to the Canadian Rockies and Alaska at the end of May, meeting my brother and my sister in law which will be a family reunion.

This community here was my anchor in the first few months of diagnosis. You can ask any questions you want, nothing is silly and you will not be judged.

Few months after diagnosis, life will have a new routine but not a bad one. It is not the end of the world!

Lots of love

Dafna from Brighton

  • Hello Jacob & Dafna (

Lovely to hear from you and thank you for the uplifting post. I am so pleased life is good for you and you have booked a fantastic holiday.

Life with Prostate Cancer does go on and yes it can be better than it was before diagnosis - just sometimes we have to accept we are also older than pre diagnosis.

You are both Star2's and thank you for continuing to support the Community.

    Kind Regards - Brian.
