Hi
I am 54 years old and my husband is 59 who has been living with prostrate cancer for 6 years. We have now been told that there is no more treatment available to him as the chemo etc is not working due to the cancer spreading to his bones and lymph nodes. This has been devastating to us as I’m sure you will understand and a real kick in the teeth after battling day in day out with physical and mental health not just for my husband but for us all.
We are now in the position where we basically just go and wait for the inevitable. Silver lining no more scan results or blood results to kick you in the teeth anymore.
I am so scared of the future during and after whilst my husband is still here and feel extremely alone and isolated hence why I have decided to finally write on this forum. In the hope of talking to people that understand and have or are going through the same experiences.
Many thanks
Hi Stanley01480338 , so sorry after battling you have been given this diagnosis, although I am somewhat surprised that you have run out of treatments. My oncologist always explains that she has many tools in her toolbox, but one day she might give me the same reply. Have any alternative chemos been tried? How many bone mets have been located? Obviously without more detail we are rather stumbling around to give you help.
Best wishes, David

Hi David,
Lee started with 3month injections in 2020 whilst having chemo for 6 rounds. Then when that finished he continue with the injections until it progressed. Then the injections stopped working so he went onto another hormone tablet which stopped working after a year , then he had another 6 rounds of chemo every 3 weeks and Now we have been told there’s nothing left to offer. He has tumors in his bones and in his lymph nodes which have all gotten worse.
kind regards
Leeanne
Hi Leeanne, ok that makes much more sense. It is a bit of a lottery how the treatments work and for how long but it sounds like Lee really has been through it all in a relatively short time. We do have some members who have been up to and beyond this stage, so hopefully others will reach out. If we can help, please ask.
Best wishes, David

Hello Leeanne (Stanley01480338)
Another welcome to the group from me. So he's had some injections of hormone therapy but you haven't named them.
* Has he been tried on Abiraterone, Enzalutamide or Olaparib - They all work in slightly different ways.
* Has anyone mentioned Lutetium 177?
* Have you looked at Cancer research UK for open clinical trials?
* Is the spread to the bones and lymph nodes too big for targeted radiotherapy?
Don't forget we aren't medically trained and we don't know Lee's full medical history so I am only throwing up ideas.
Best wishes - Brian.
