  1. Hi, my hubby was diagnosed with PC 2 years ago, had the robotic surgery shortly after but at each 3 month blood test the PSA has risen every single time since the op. Now 0.17. I know very little about what this pattern means ( I know its less than 1 but I have no idea about the thing  and his was about 9 before op I think. Now going for another pet scan. Does anyone have an idea about how long it keeps rising before something else can be done? Thanks for any replies.
  • Hiya Gloria,

My husband is in a very similar situation. He had a radical prostatectomy January 2024. All went well. His psa level has slightly increased throughout the year.....0.02, 0.14,. 0.19 and then his most recent one was yesterday which is showing 0.3. We were half expecting it to be over the 0.2 deadline. He now has an appointment with oncologist next Monday.

Not sure what the next steps are...radiotherapy I think

    • Thank you Steve, just getting our heads round it and having to wait until Sept for pet scan.
  • Thank you, this sounds very similar. He understands it'll be radiotherapy but we're waiting until September for pet scan.

  • Thank you Brian. This is what we understand now. I'm just feeling very sad for him that he opted for the op when he'd been offered the radiotherapy/hormone treatment as alternative but looks like he'll be going that route as well now. Thank you for your help and info.

  • We feel exactly the same that radiotherapy was offered but all my husband wanted to do was 'get it out' so opted the route of the radical prostatectomy.

The psa has been rising slightly each time. He's well in himself and is pretty positive.

We are niw waiting for a PET scan appointment which is stressful.

  • Hi Gloria

Have a look at my profile, I also had a relapse in PSA shortly after my operation. Many men are on HT for a longer period than the 6 months I was on it. As I was still under 60 and active, HT therapy was not for me.

I have been very happy with my choices and have been living life to its fullest. My wife and I travel extensively, eat out as much as we can, walk daily and make time to smell the roses.

    All of the best
