I'm Alan I was diagnosed with prostate cancer February 2021. Stage 3 Gleeson 9 .Received prostap injection treatment for 3years Radiotherapy in June 21 for the whole month. My main concern is the weight gain and the fatigue. Had blood tests done came back OK. Nobody has sorted my fatigue I was wondering if anyone has had this experience?

  • Hi Alan ( ), welcome to our group.  Unfortunately HT causes both weight gain and fatigue.  I have been on Zoladex for 8 years and have gained about 10 pounds (all around my middle).   Exercise seems to be the best antidote for both weight gain and fatigue but it is a balance between doing sufficient and over doing things.  Hopefully others will be along soon, but if you have any questions please ask.  David

  • Hi   and another welcome to the forum. I was diagnosed in 2018 as T3A N0 M0, Gleason 4+5=9 and a PSA of 15. I also had three years of Prostap injections and 20 sessions of RT in early 2019. Prior to diagnosis I was very active but following the RT I was totally flattened. My friends from my rowing club formed a rota and started making me go out for a walk every day. We started off with just a few hundred yards but were soon walking several miles.

I will be 78 in August and walk at least 35 miles every week, swim a mile twice a week and go rowing as often as I can.

It may seem counterintuitive but, as   says, the best cure for fatigue is exercise!

Also, I'm sorry to say, the best cure for weight gain is smaller plates! I had "grown" to 86 kg when I finished the Prostap injections but am now down to my pre-PCa weight of 78kg. I found the 5+2 diet very effective for losing that extra weight.

    I hope that helps.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift.
