Hello Community. Today is my biopsy. Im NELS 56 year old. Nov 14 2024 had my physical annual and my PSA was 2.14. It was that way for the last 10 years. On Nov 29 2024 I had a high fever and joint pain but no congestion. After several Covid test negative i noticed that my urine was dribbling out. I made an appointment with a urologist on Dec 09 and he did a urine and blood test. He said urine came back with an infection and PSA came back 67. He put me on antibiotics and shot in the arm. So in 23 days it went from 2.21 to 67.0. 3 days later I did another PSA test it went to 31.They did all exams cystoscopy pressure test sonogram of bladder digital rectal everything came back good. On Jan 06 2025 they did an MRI which showed all good no lesions. Did a PSA test today and it is now 5.37. The Biopsy is tomorrow. I feel fine except pain or just discomfort in my lower buttock area. I used to get this discomfort after carrying heavy items over 20 years ago. First Urologist said Biopsy. Second urologist said just monitor psa and another PSA test in 3 months. Third Urologist said BIOPSY. Confusing
Hello Nels (nels)
Another welcome to our Exclusive Club, I am so pleased you have "found" us.
I have a feeling (although none of us are medically trained) that you infection and medical intervention has played around with your PSA results. Sex and riding a bike before a test can also throw the results.
in view of the above let's hope the biopsy shows that you have no cancer and everything is OK. If by chance you do come back with a positive result you are in the right place for help and advice.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi nels , the massive rise in PSA doesn’t sound normal for prostate cancer (I am not medically trained) so hopefully you will be ok. Did you take home administered PSA tests? There is an article today on the BBC suggesting that they can give very false readings, so just be cautious. Good luck and keep us informed. David
Hi Nels
It does sound like infection especially as has come right back down.
Biopsy could be questionable suppose but as booked in tomorrow anyway go ahead, at least gets it over with and should , fingers crossed, come back all clear.
Suppose more monitoring would have made sense as your initial MRI didn't show anything , just my opinion obviously.
Best wishes
Steve
Hey David the psa test I had at a blood center. My second opinion Urologist said it had to be infection so lets monitor it. My 1st urologist and my 3rd opinion urologist said biopsy. 2nd urologist said how in less than 21 days it goes from 2.21 to 67.3 then to 31.2 and finally 5.37. He said lets watch it for now but My daughter wanted to go with the gold standard for PC which is Biopsy. Im on my way
