Just dropping by to say hello. A recent CT scan for a planned gall bladder op picked up a number of sclerotic lesions on my pelvis. My PSA reading is around 1. I was subsequently referred for a bone scan which has confirmed the lesions and the radiographer can’t rule out rarer forms of prostate cancer. So I have now seen a prostate cancer consultant who has referred me for a pelvic MRI scan which is now scheduled for Monday. Having been a bit down emotionally with the speed with which this is all happening, now having read about the waits being endured by others for diagnosis, I am now feeling very fortunate that my company’s private healthcare means I can get through this limbo stage to diagnosis so quickly. Yes - it is a lot to take in but I think I would struggle even more with a prolonged wait to find out what I am dealing with. My wife and I are both sleeping badly at the moment so I am doing my best to put it to the back of my mind and distract myself as much as possible. I am feeling much more positive than I was a few days ago. My best wishes to anyone else currently stuck in limbo land.
Hey Seagull
glad you have had a speedy process and welcome to a bunch of great knowledgeable people . My OH was diagnosed in March and had his first consultation 18th July . So I am glad you have private care and getting answers quickly as I think the unknown is the biggest fear. My OH and I have had many a sleepless nights and we have decided rather than toss and turn in bed . We get up, have a cuppa , talk and head back to bed sometimes it works as there is a lot to process .
My OH is retired so walks 10 miles a day to sort out his head ( his words ) as he’s currently having radiotherapy every Tuesday till 7th January . He is also on HT long term.
I hope you can have a “relaxed” Christmas with your loved ones.
take care & best wishes Liz & OH xx
