I was diagnosed at grade 3b in August now on hormone therapy due to have Bracytheropy next week followed by Radiotherapy into next year. Feeling a bit up and down at the moment!
Hello Richards Dad
A warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Prostate Community, although I am so sorry to find you here.
Your feelings are natural as we have all been where you are now an know just what it's like waiting for treatment, but at least you have a diagnosis and a treatment plan in place.
Our vey own Alpine Wanderer has been through the Brachytherapy/Radiotherapy journey and I have "tagged" him in to this post. No doubt he will be along to introduce himself soon. His full journey can be found here:
RE: Surgery or Radiotherapy? Decision made!

Hi Richard’s Dad.
Sorry to see your here . But a very warm welcome to a very special group of people . My husband also has PC and he is up and down too so you are not alone. Please ask away anything as someone will get back to you with an answer I sign post you. Nobody is medically trained but they have lots of experience .
It’s a group where you can rant as I have often or just ask what ever you want even trivial stuff as often they become your focus on life but when asked . It’s a troubled shared and halved once people start to reply .
please take care and remember everyone on here is in the same boat .
best wishes
Liz & OH xx
Hi Richards Dad welcome but sorry you are here. I don’t have any experience with brachytherapy but while we wait for others to come along, are you able to add a bit more info (PSA at start and latest, T3bN?M? Or any scan results) you can add it to your profile or pop it on here. I use my profile as my diary of what has happened so far. You can see anyone’s profile by going to their name or avatar (mine is a photo of St Brelades Bay). Best wishes, David
Hi Richards Dad - yep, here I am, as promised by Millibob Click on my icon snow scene for an abridged version of my story. I’m back leading hiking tours (writing this in Lanzarote, heading home tomorrow). My story also includes some pretty interesting videos about brachytherapy boost (which is what you’re having) and has some very encouraging evidence of cure rates. Chin up- brachytherapy operation will soon be behind you and radiotherapy is a breeze for most. You’ll be fine. Any questions, ask away. AW
Hi !
We’ve all been there and are there with the feelings, the stress and being anxious and then of course hormone therapy doesn’t make you happy and all over the place.
With that said, you’ve joined a fantastic forum with great people that can support you, give you there own experiences and help you clear up things So you’ve come to right place to be up and down
As a T3B, hopefully with N0 and most importantly M0 they are giving you a really good standard treatment with two different radiation modalities and probably hormone therapy long term. So they will hit the prostate cancer ’beast’ really hard
Best wishes - Ulf
Thanks Alpine Wanderer that’s very encouraging will certainly get around to looking at your stuff very soon
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
