I was diagnosed with prostate cancer 3 eeeks ago, I am 52 years old. I just went for a pas test, because I see it on tv.im glad I did. I was wondering if there is any walks around wittering or Peterborough . Local groups go on. Any information would be grateful

  • Hi AndrewK welcome to the forum. Im not sure about any groups in the area of your search. However, I know lots of lovely folks on here who will be along soon to answer your query. If people don't know about any local groups for you then please do give the Macmillan Line a call as they may have access to local information. Best Wishes for now.

  • Hi Andrew, when we saw the oncologist he handed us some leaflets and one was for a local support  group. my OH won’t go himself . We now go as a couple to the local Maggie Centre and they are so refreshing. They let you do the talking and will point you in the right direction . They offered one to one but he just won’t , so it is what it is

I agree with Gail to contact  the MacMillan Line . Or maybe the oncology nurses that you will be known to as part of your treatment plan . As my husband had his bloods checked fortnightly but now monthly at our GP surgery  to make sure the HT had no adverse affects and check PSA . we call them the next day for the results.

Hope you can get somewhere &  best wishes

  • Good Evening

A warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Prostate cancer forum - although I am so sorry to find you here.

Below is a link to our search tool to find things in your area:-

    https://www.macmillan.org.uk/in-your-area/choose-location.html

When I put "Peterborough" in it gave me more than 30 options!!

I did check out the "Maggie's" centres and I think your nearest is at Addenbrookes Hospital.

As others have said - give our support line a ring on 0808 808 00 00 (8am to 8pm 7 days a week) they have more resources.

We as an online Community are here for you 24 hours a day and are happy to help with any questions you may have.

    Best wishes - Brian.
