My husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer this week - Gleason score 7, stage T2C. A decipher test and PET scan are coming up. We are just at the beginning of this journey.
Good morning Sympia and welcome. If you live in the UK then I see that you are awake in the middle of the night and if you are anything like a lot of us at the beginning then all you can think about is Prostate Cancer. With your husband's initial results then he is hopefully on a curative pathway and fingers crossed that the tests he is due to have will confirm this. I know that you will have a lot of questions at the moment but I would like to point you in the direction of a book which you can download for free which explains many things from what tests are performed, what the results mean and then what your options are. Prostate cancer can be cured if it is found and treated early enough and the techniques have been refined and improved over recent years so don't be tempted to Dr Google but rely on the information from resources like PCUK and Macmillan, plus of course this forum where you will get information from those who have been there, done that, and worn the t shirt.
We welcome any questions no matter how small or silly you think them.

Hi Sympia , sorry you have joined our group but you are most welcome. We all understand exactly where you are at the moment having just been diagnosed. This really is the hardest part and once you get all the tests out of the way and a proper treatment plan is in place you will settle back to a new normal. As Alwayshope has said, ask anything if you have any questions or just want to talk with others who are going through the same or those of us who have been on this journey for years. Best wishes, David
Hi Sympia-
sorry you’ve found your way here but here is a great place to be for those in this situation.
I had very similar results to your husband back in April, and I know from experience how one can bounce from pillar to post and from decision to decision.
The most important thing for now is to read & absorb the information provided by your medical team and contents of any choices given to you. As for internet resources, there is plenty to read on this Macmillan website and on the Prostate cancer UK website but please stay away from Doctor Google as that way leads to a dark winding never ending path.
If you get choices of treatment or even just get told what path your husband will be taking, the best thing is to be is fully informed. An important thing to remember is that everyone is different and that what one experiences another may not.
If you have any questions at all please feel free to ask, we’re all a friendly bunch on here and there will be probably be someone on here who can answer it, and if they can’t there’ll be someone who knows of someone.
Best wishes and good luck to you both
John
