72yo. Male of course. Had the 28 day tablets to shrink the Prostate. Had my first hormone injection.
Suffering with diarrhoea and disturbed nights. Seems dairy exacerbates the diarrhoea. I take 1xImmodium when it gets too bad.
Had lots of hot flushes but these are occurring less frequently. Got a kidney stone too. Large, and told by medics that it is not obstructive and might have been there for years.
My wife is a great support. Even so, feeling a little vulnerable and isolated. Spent 14 hrs in our local A&E last week. Kidney pain and butt ache. Seem to have settled a little since. Given codeine but the insert says not to be taken with enlarged Prostate. Hmm....
Any advice or ideas you guys might have, please let me know.
Hi MeltonMark,
As they all say: welcome to the club you do not want to be part of. We are also new to the PC with no so good diagnostic of 5 weeks ago.My husband like yourself had the 28 days tablets and one injection so far. Next month will start on Enzalutamide ( I am sure I spelt it wrong) this is what they call 2nd generation HT for advance PC.
My grandmother use to feed us with rice and bananas to stop the diarrhea and it works. I hope you feel better soon, weather permitted try to take walks, this always help and please tell your wife from another wife that we will fight the PC head on.
Have a lovely Christmas and we will look forward to a better 2024!
Lots of love
Dafna from Brighton
Thank you. Seems almost everyone has some complication or other. Wonderful to receive tips and advice from people who are going through the same drama.
Best regards

What strength menoforce would you take and should you avoid taking them with any other medication or should I consult my team. I have night sweats but with some adjustment to my bedding it has improved a bit
Hi Skippy1959 They are the only Menoforce H & B sell I think. each tablet is 51mg of Dried Sage.
I checked with my GP to ensure there was no medication clash and my Hot Sweats vanished within about 3 weeks and haven't returned.
I think they are great but don't work for everyone.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi Skippy,
After checking with the Radiologists that it was OK, I tried the Menoforce tablets that Millibob suggested & found that they did help to reduce the frequency & more importantly the intensity of my hot flushes. I actually found they were cheaper from our local health store rather than H & B so can be worth checking that out.
Funnily enough, the worst flushes I had came almost immediately after my 3rd Decapeptyl injection but fortunately they eased off within a week.
All the best
Brian
