Just been diagnosed with Prostrate Cancer after an MRI Scan. Very worried.

Kind regards James.

  • Hello James (

Well that's a bit of good news, it's not your Prostate so it may well be something and nothing. Better to find out what it is than to let it get out of hand.

I want to go out the Goth way at my families grave reciting Latin.

There's plenty of time left in your life before you need to think of that. When I read Latin at School, they neve told us it had a Goth connection, that's a new one on me.

Here's a few ideas for you about the bin:

    * E-mail your MP - it's easy to find his address online and he can't say he's not had anything from you and should take action for you.

    * Have you tried Age Concern - www.ageuk.org.uk - They should be able to offer some help,

    * Give our support line a ring on 0808 808 00 00 (8am to 8pm 7 days a week) They have a massive resource bank and should be able to help.

Not only have you the Goth family, you are part of our family too and it;s far too early to lose you.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi James, when you got your diagnosis did you not get a contact number for your local cancer hub .

Or try the Macmillan help line  08088080000 . They will listen and support you .

    Take care

  • Hi all and thank you for your input. The blood is darker and this would indicate a Kidney cancer. My Kidney blood test was normal however. I don't understand this at all. I feel to nauseus today to go for the scan.

    Kind regards James.

  • James, try and get to the scan as you won’t get answers until you get this done.  Chances are still good that it isn’t serious as previous bloods would probably pick up something aggressive.  Are you losing weight and do you drink enough fluid?  Let us know how you get on.  David

  • Thanks David. I drink 3 mugs of decaff a day and I very rarely feel thirsty I have lost some weight but my doctor says it is nothing to be worried about because of my age.

It is a half and hour taxi drive to get to Rochdale and being away from home gets me frightend untl I get to the hospital.

    Kind regards James.

  • Hi James , we all know how we feel when undergoing  tests but it’s worth going so you know what you’re dealing with if anything  . As David2017 has said you won’t get answers if you don’t go . Once you go through that door you will have nurses & radiographers at hand to support you through this. Please let us know how you get on today .

  • Good morning James. 3 mugs of coffee a day is not enough so why not try drinking a glass of water before each meal as well. This will help your food to be digested better plus it will help your kidneys and bladder. The nausea is probably from your anxiety about going to the hospital but knowing whether you have a problem is better than the 'what ifs'. You have been strong and done it before so dig deep and have the test.

  • Hi all,

Brian Goths use a mixture of Latin and Greek. Thank you all for your support. I manage to get there £20 each way in a taxi. I had the scan done. Just got to wait and see what the results are now. Because of the darkness of the Urine when it happens I think it has something to do with my Kidneys.

One of my friends has been told told today that his mouth cancer, (he had it removed) is possibly coming back and is terminal this time. He is getting help from his Macmillan nurse.

Not looking forward to the results and on seeing the specialist if there is a Macmillan nurse there I will know it is bad news. I have got the Cystoscopy coming up on Wednesday which I am not looking forward to.

    Kind regards James.

  • Well done   That must have been hard but you need to know what is going on.  Waiting is really the hard part I find, just try not to let your imagination get away with itself. Definitely force yourself to drink more water and see if the colour gets better.  Good luck with sorting the bin.  David

  • Hi James ,

glad to see you went for your scan . I agree with these lovely people on this forum you really need to drink more fluids.

my OH never drank water but I’ve a jug in the fridge and encourage him to drink that . Also he does like iced tea with a slice of lemon . So make it and that’s Ali in the fridge.  I bought green tea but he just doesn’t like it .

try and chill over the weekend and get ready for Wednesday . Keep us up to date .
