Hi guys I am 73 I have been diagnosed as aT3AN0 and a gleeson of 7. I also managed 12 positive hits out of 14 on my biopsies. I have always been very sexually active except performance has plummeted over the past three months. I am due to start a course of bicalutamide in a couple of weeks. I assume that things will decline even further. It was suggested that after a few months of hormone treatment, radiotherapy might be considered. However, my reading has suggested that there might be a cap on this for the over 70s. I must admit I am finding this all very depressing now. Have others experienced similar feelings?
Hi Chrsay
I'm 75 and was diagnosed in March T2c NO MO with a PSA of 31.8 and Gleason 4+3. Click on my symbol to see the full history. I didn't notice any change re sex life on the bicalutamide but things have tapered off after 2 months of Prostap. I'm not sure what you mean when you refer to a cap on radiotherapy for the over 70's. I have my first appointment tomorrow with oncology to arrange radiotherapy treatment.
My PSA is down to 2.01 so good news, despite the downside re sex, is the cancer has been stopped in its tracks!
Hope all goes well for you
Bob
Hi Chrsay
We all feel very down when first diagnosed and have to go through a steep learning curve to understand what is happening. I found the threads on this forum very helpful, following the progress of others who have similar test results has been very reassuring. There can be quite a difference in the communication with patients depending on where you live, I have been very lucky with the NHS rapid pathway in Northamptonshire. I have found the specialist nurses to be the most approachable and helpful. Hopefully you will have been given their contact details, also usually listed on hospital letters, so talk to them if you want reassurance as to what is happening.
Regards
Bob
