Hi, I had my prostate biopsy on Thursday. The injections to numb area and the probe were the most painful part of procedure. What I found the most painful part (that no one mentioned and ialso couldn't find documented) was the 48 hours afterwards. The pain in my rear passage was 7/10 and I couldn't sit down. I was on the toilet every hour but felt like I could just sit there 24/7 as felt like I needed to go permanently. I could not find these after procedure side effects documented anywhere and wondered if other people had experienced them?
Thanks Stuart. I had 18 taken. Looks like I picked up a diarrhoea bug during procedure according to 111. All good today as no solid foods. Did you get your results within 2-3 weeks?
Hi Radiation
Yes something like that.

Stuart
Hi Ulls
It's amazing how different hospitals take the samples. No stirrups for me but lying on my side with something that felt enormous in me was more than enough embarrassment for me. That said the pain focused my mind on other things.

Stuart
Two different biopsies! Transrectal is done lying on the side and transperineal uses stirrups. The latter is now recommended by Prostate Cancer UK as it is far less likely to lead to infection since the bowel wall isn't compromised.
