Hi, I had my prostate biopsy on Thursday. The injections to numb area and the probe were the most painful part of procedure. What I found the most painful part (that no one mentioned and ialso couldn't find documented) was the 48 hours afterwards. The pain in my rear passage was 7/10 and I couldn't sit down. I was on the toilet every hour but felt like I could just sit there 24/7 as felt like I needed to go permanently. I could not find these after procedure side effects documented anywhere and wondered if other people had experienced them?
Hi Radiation. I cannot say that I even noticed the injections, although I was so petrified which perhaps numbed my body. I found the actual biopsy very uncomfortable and a bit painful (3/10) as the samples were taken. Had blood in my urine for five days, reducing day by day. I did not have any pain though after the biopsy. I have heard on forums of men who did and some who suffered complications. I suggest you run this past your consultant or perhaps the MacMillan Nurses, if you are still suffering. Certainly no harm in raising questions and really it is "all part of the service". Good luck with your results.
Hi radiation.
When I went in for my first biopsy I was given the local anesthetic then when they went for a sample the pain was unbelievable. They said it was possibly because of other medications I was/are taking that reduced the effectiveness of the anesthetic.
I guess I'm lucky as I now have biopsies under general anesthesia.
A little pain afterwards but no side effects.
Good luck on your journey
Peter
Hi Static,
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Looks like everyone has different angles. I was very relaxed about procedure beforehand but it was a bit more painful and uncomfortable than I'd imagined. Feeling a lot better today. Will contact nurses if persists. Thanks for good wishes.
Boys, clearly not a good experience with the biopsy but a must. Fingers crossed for the results but if you’re here then maybe you’re welcome to the club! ( I only joined today, diagnosed last week!)
Looks like many different paths from here, hopefully curable…
Keep strong
Hi Radiation
The pain from the biopsy was awful and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Fortunately they only took 4 samples. I did have a little blood when urinating for a couple of days but nothing more.
Regards
Stuart
