Hello
Best wishes to everyone
I was Diagnosed last December T4 N1 Lymph Nodes with Possible secondary site at the "Sigmoid" in Rectum.
As I have Cirrhosis the only option was Degarelix.
I had the initial 240ml dose injected either side of my Navel 9 Days ago now - It was fine just like giving Bloods but it became more Painful the following hours/days I guess similar to Wasp Stings as the Nurse suggested Antihistamine Cream - Now there no longer any Pain but I have 2 tennis Ball Bruises and smaller 1 inch across hardish Lumps at the Injection Sites plus excess Flab which I didn't have.
I have wondered if it was Mixed or Administered wrongly as I have not had any side effects at all
Whilst the thought of having another Maintenance Jab (80ml) - Only done (I'm told) in the Stomach in 19 days is worrying.
I mentioned all of the above to my Macmillan Urology Nurse Specialist and she suggested that my mind was busy with a House Move so I missed any Bad reactions but from the ones mentioned here - I find it hard to believe that I would forget about multiple Hot/Cold Flushes etc
Apologies for the long explanation - I was wondering if anyone also did not get adverse reactions for a Week or do these symptoms take multiple days/weeks to progress ?
This is not all Hormone Injections just Degarelix specific
Thanks and Best of Health Possible to all.
The side effects are all potential, and everyone is different. Besides, you've only had one dose so far: the side effect teams are just getting organised.

If I can't beat this, I'm going for the draw.
Meanwhile, my priority is to live while I have the option.
I don't think that would affect the side effects, the thing is, they are long acting injections, designed to deliver over time.
So you haven't yet received a full dose, and won't until some time after the second delivery.
Just enjoy your respite while you can.

No worries, but you did remind me of Peter Cook there for a moment:
"I've learned from my mistake and I can repeat them exactly" - easily done!

Hi Colin , at last someone else who has been diagnosed with exactly the same as my self PSI 9.3 T4 aggressive cancer gone to the wall of the rectum .My experience so far After initial course of hormone meds in pill form I had the first injection of hormone meds which had no side effects at all .The second stronger dose was administered a month later ,this was to last 3 months .After a about a week I started to have mild hot flushes mainly at night , so far not that severe .Have just had my second course of radio therepy and feel that the original condition has improved ,not so much pain in the rectum , bowl habits are better so god willing treatment is working .
Kindest Regards

Hello Clive
Yep sounds like great news for you :) - I understand that if the Primary Site of the Cancer is the Prostate when that has "It's Handbrake Pulled" to quote my Amazing Clever Young Caring Female Surgeon who said on Christmas Eve that "Time is not an issue you can ask as many Questions as you Wish" - Then as the DNA - for want of a better word - is the same as any other Sites then they also are helped.
I am due to have an Endoscopy(Heptology) and tbh the Hospital I disliked initially are being Fantastic - another Scope will be used by Colorectal and my first Biopsies taken by Urology all whilst I am asleep. Quite an Audience but when you show an attractive Complete Stranger that you can Self-Catheterise hospitals become a Different World !
If it's OK I would love to know how you progress it would be a little like knowing the future for me.
Best wishes
Colin
