Hiya, got diagnosed in may2018 Gleason 7 (4+3)...could have had the op but as I work for myself and my work is seasonal I couldn't take that many weeks off work so opted for 6months zoladex treatment starting in the July then in jan/Feb 2019 had 24 sessions of ebrt higher than normal dose....does anyone know if I'm ever likely to get any sort of sex drive back,or an erection again ? Cialis,Levitra and viagra literally do nothing to help....I was a bodybuilder for 30 years and took anabolic steroids for 25 of them so to go from massive amounts of testosterone to practically none is a major adjustment....I know there are studies which are a bit controversial atm regarding using testosterone enanthate to flood what's left of the prostate and technically kill any remaining dormant cancer cells as the cells are not expecting such a high dose of testosterone and basically die off, thus in the process restoring some sort of male sex drive again, like I say it's highly controversial and trying to get a urologist in Tyne and wear to go along with these new studies seems an impossible ask,my urologist is certainly against the idea but I'm at the point in my life where I think anything is worth a try to get some sort of manly feelings back again...prostate cancer uk have advised me to ask urologist to refer me to the Andrology clinic at the Freeman hospital as that is my best hope of possibly getting a consultant to give this sort of treatment a try....it could backfire and bring any dormant cancer cells back to life again that's why it's highly controversial atm....was just hoping to get some sort of feedback on this matter....hormone treatment pre radiation made me gain 3 stone in weight, lose muscle mass, more abdominal fat not to mention the sore tits and hot flushes and I'm only 54yr old...bit of a long winded opening statement but there you go....hope someone gets back to me,thankyou...haven't had sex for 3.5years now through this treatment
Hi Palmy, sorry about your situation and to be honest not sure of the sex after radiotherapy though I had that option I chose surgery and haven't had sex since February this year and can't get an erection with or without pills . It's a very frustrating place to be and I haven't found any men who really want to chat about the problem. Before I made my choice the surgeon said that sexual activity after would be probably ok but I really wanted the cancer out so opted prostatectomy but still struggling with the after effects mentally. I'm sure you will get a more informative and helpful advice soon on here as there are a couple of well informed guys on here. Good luck going forward. Graeme.
Hiya,no I had 6months of zoladex from July 2018 then the radiotherapy in jan/Feb 2019,am not on any treatment now but if anything the erectile dysfunction is worse now 2.5years down the line, not that it really bothers me anymore but certainly doesn't make me feel manly,I can still self pleasure to a point but that's a rarity aswell as I have dry orgasms now
Hi !
Do I understand you right that, even before you were treated for prostate cancer, you used steroids / Testosterone enhancement to pump up Testosterone levels as part of your bodybuilding carrier?
I suppose you were off any Testosterone enhancement before treatment started but did they measure your T-levels before treatment and have you Done Testosterone tests and is it still low / under normal?
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
