it will tell you more than I can, I have metastasis in various bones have you asked him about the this I know you said he’s not saying everything, but looking through this site may help you ask questions, if he’s not forthcoming you cannot press him to much, just try to be there at his next appointment, also check on the side effects of these new drugs just things to look out for.

Hi Tracey, I feel exactly the same as you. My dad (87) received confirmation last week that his prostate cancer has spread to bones in his hip, back and shoulder. He does appear to be in a lot of pain and I don't know what to do to try and get him sorted with effective pain medication, he has only been prescribed paracetamol. This is all so new and I don't know where to get advice.

So sorry to hear that. It's a massive shock, isn't it? Always thought cancer happened to other families, but was very wrong. Cancer doesn't discriminate. My dad hasn't mentioned pain, at all. Would it be an idea to make a double appointment with his doc, for both of you? Or in the short term, a pharmacist? Thank goodness for this site;you are not alone,ever, SK6. Take care. 

Hi my sympathy goes out to you.  My husband was diagnosed with the same symptoms 4 weeks ago.  After a real battle and constantly phoning gp and specialist nurse he is now on oromorphe and paracetamol.  He is now waiting to see consultant.  5 week wait.  My husband started to complain of back ache in January.  Specialist nurse said she would be surprised if cancer had spread to bones has PSA reading was low and you don't get pain with bone cancer!  Keep fighting we shouldn't have to but it seems the only way.

You mention you don’t get pain from bone cancer, a lot of people here who have. It in their spine will disagree with that statement, including me. Bone cancer can be very painful, just look it up on the net.

How cancer reacts should not surprise anyone. Personally I would be phoning daily, seeing if there’s a cancellation, their not quick to phone people when this happens, plus making a nuisance of yourself is not what the hospital wants, as long as your civil about the way you go about this.
