Hi, I'm new to all of this but here goes. I recently went to my GP because of a tingling sensation down below. After a prostate check they sent me for an urgent referral. Since then I have had a biopsy, MRI & bone scan over a 1 week period. Now for the waiting game. My summary letter come through of a telephone discussion which says my PIRADS level is 5 lesion, PSA density of 0.24 and PSA level is 5.1. Of course the first thing I did was go on the internet and I am now in a state of doom and the feeling of my life just passing by. I cant seem to get out of this state. Any advice or experience shared would be helpful thanks.

Hi again STS , have just come across this post after having replied to your first post. You have a low(ish) PSA so that is generally good. Personally, I think you will be fine and even IF it is PCa then very likely curable. Either way, please come back and let us know. David

Hello STS and welcome. Of course you are anxious as your world has been turned upside down with a possible diagnosis of prostate cancer. To help you understand what is going on I have attached a link to a book which you can download for free and I think the title says it all - a survival guide.

The waiting for results and tests is the worst part but there is a good statistic that 98% of men die with it and not OF it. Your PSA is still low and over recent years there have been huge strides in treatments and how to deal with the different types of prostate cancer which means that men stay on a curative pathway. Please only use trusted sources of information on sites like PCUK, Macmillan and CRUK. What you have to remember is that information is often based on retrospective data when treatment protocols were not available. You are going to have questions and we will try and help you from our own experience so ask away. There is life after diagnosis and it can return to normal for many men. Don't be rushed into making any decisions and look at all the your options if you are diagnosed with prostate cancer which is normally slow growing.

STS - see my comment on the other thread. Your stats are in a good place for cure. PSAD of 0.24 is fine (mine was 0.52). AW

PIRADS 5 is actually a good thing. It means that they can target the lesions effectively. AW

Hello and welcome. I am sure must of us have been where you are, that feeling of doom, anxiety and worrying and wondering. As soon as you get your treatment plan then hopefully you will start to feel better. The waiting is the worst. We are all here to support you, no matter how big or small it is.
