My dads been diagnosed with prostate cancer unfortunately and it’s spread to his hip and 3rd vertebrae causing him to be mostly bed bound , he is on pro stap injections aswell

so far he’s had

urine sample

xray

2 lots of prostate bloods results were 135

full blood count

3 weeks ago he has a contrast ct scan

yesterday I had a phone call to say that his results had gone to a mdt meeting and that dad needs to come in for his results and speak to the consultant , he can’t actually do that at the moment as he is house bound and it’s to much for him and they also want him to go in for a mri

if I can get patient transport to get him in for his mri scan before Christmas, how long after that do people think they can possibly start treatment , im really concerned about my dad hes loosing weight and hes deteriorating in my eyes anyway even though the doctor said his bmi is fine and wont give him ensure drinks which im upset about because he isn’t eating properly what so ever

hes a very very stubborn man and has been very selfish with some decisions with this illness but he said he will definitely go for this scan if he can make it

I really need to start making some phone calls on Monday because I don’t think this can carry on the way things are going I need answers and I feel like he’s getting left in bed to just wither away

thankyou for reading

  • Hello

Yon need to get dad to the MDT meeting and the MRI Scan so his team can come up with the best possible treatment solution - they won't start any treatment until they are sure it's the best possible treatment for his circumstances.

Our Support Line is open for you today on 0808 808 00 00 (8am to 8pm) - please do give them a call as they can help you with both dad's issues and your own anxiety.

    Best wishes - Brian.
