Hello all

Yes I am still about,

Trying to get my life back to some order.

As you know its not easy,,, but getting there slowly.

I have been told that my Heart is now all Ok. As the rehab went ok and the BP went as it should when doing rehab so the consultant was very happy.

Over the summer the garden kept me busy as i over did the flowers. Now the winter is here just sitting in front of PC twiddling my fingers.

What do I do now ??

Just got my November PSA result which was up a few points  To 4.5 from 3.6..  We will now see what the next 6 months will bring along

If I do not chat before,,, May I wish you all a Happy Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.

Les

  • Hello Les - lovely to hear from you again. I’m pleased to hear you are doing ok and that your garden has kept you occupied over the summer. I gave up with mine this summer - it seemed to go from a jungle to a desert overnight! All my annuals, grown from seed at home, withered and died and my lawns were brown and bare! I once read that a gardener’s heart is full of hope so here’s to next years gardening!

  • Hi Worriedwife

Yes there was a lot of wateing of plants this year with empty waterbutts..and now the butts are full and nothing to water.... Yes Not sure if I will do seeds or if I will buy the plants for next year... it will soon be the shortest day soon,,, so in 3 months and a bit we will be looking for spring.

    Les

  • I had a dismal vegetable garden this year.

Everything I planted (tomatoes, peppers, onions and eggplants) this spring turned out horribly. Either they didn't grow or just turned black on the vine. If I am around next Spring, debating whether to plant.  Although they don't taste as good, but just buying vegetables from the Green Grocer is so easy Blush

  • Hello Les (

Great to hear from you and I am so pleased that your heart issues have been resolved. Yes your PSA is up slightly but at least you are being "watched" so no worries there.

I gave up the garden a couple of years ago when my son "borrowed" my lawn mower and I had to get a gardener in to cut my grass every couple of weeks. I wonder if I should "lend" my son the shed to keep "my" lawn mower in?

Carry on Les you are doing great - and do keep in touch.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi  , how lovely to hear from you and see that you are slowly getting your life back.  Great that your heart is ok and a shame the PSA isn’t going the correct way, but one of the very few advantages of age, is that the slow growing PCa gets even slower growing so hopefully you won’t be bothered by it again.
Only a couple of weeks to the shortest day and then we can look forward to another Spring.

Take care and keep in touch.

    Best wishes, David

Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.

  • Brian.

Dont let the shed go as that is your man cave. A place to hide if you get on the wrong side of Mrs Millibob.

  • Keep fighting Les, one day at a time!

  • Hi Les,

Just wondering if you can sow anything indoors now in preparation for planting (Fruits, veggies) which maybe you could then pop outside for people to help themselves too - a type of open community garden.

Or maybe you could use your hands and make bread to enjoy?

If you're able - could you visit a garden centre?

    What about making something crafty?

Just trying to broaden your horizons :)

    All the best

  • I had umpteen courgettes and tomatoes but not enough beans for even one meal!! We have 4 water butts and drained them all but even that was not enough, it seems. I gave up in the end! The birds somehow got all my cherries and the raspberries came to nothing. My tale of gardening woe for 2025 is unprecedented but wow - I did love the hot weather!

I quite agree, home grown produce id different!

  • Hi Occubrooks.

When I was a lot younger I used to listen a lot of short wave radio and listing to ham radio and I used to have a long wire antenna. But as things change that fell by the way. As this past summer went along I was thinking what I could do over the winter. so its back to listing to local ham radio and now planning of putting a long wire up in the garden.  I am doing a course on the Foundation licence for ham radio. and will be doing the the exam for this in a week or so.

Re the bread making,,,,,in my younger days I trained to cook and that was in traditional english food.. Yes i can make bread and Good pastry.  As you may or may not know I lost my partner in early 2024   (( that was a big loss to me and 2024 was not a easy year,,,and to top it off in 2025 my heart attack came one year and two days after I lost my partner ))     and we were working together up till then. But working stopped as being just one.

Re the garden,  I do not do Veg. This is a village with a lot of cats..

I must say thank you for you advice.
