Hello,
I just read that PC increases Ferritin levels.
Has anyone else heard of this?
I haven't seen anyone discuss here.
Just wondering how important it is...
Hi Harry, yes it's surprising serum ferritin isn't mentioned on the forum, as your right PCa can increase serum ferritin levels, but there's also a strong correlation between high SF levels and higher Gleason and PSA results, so not only is it associated with more aggressive/advanced PCa, some studies point to SF can aid the spread of cancer cells
Eddie
I have a very high ferritin level.
This is depressing...
My friend there are other causes for elevated SF levels, so my apologies I thought your question related to a post prostate cancer diagnosis.
Eddie
Eddie,
No problem.
This is why posted this. To get more insight. I'm hoping it is for other causes in my case.
Since my current PSA 7.8 is somewhat low, I hope my high ferritin is for something else.
I can't answer that my friend, but your PSA is low, so a benign diagnosis is just as likely and if not such a low PSA, is a strong indication of early detection, so curable
Eddie
Thank You
Thank You for your words of encouragement...
I'm sure my doctor has seen the number, but hasn't mentioned it.
Mine is in the 800's.
I need to ask him...
Hi Harry300a5bc36 , you are such a worrier. Listen to your wife and in the words of Brian (Millibob ) ‘take a chill pill’. Ferritin can be raised through alcohol and iron supplements for example so there are many reasons for it to be high. I hope your results meeting goes well. I fully anticipate you will be given the all clear, but if it were cancer, then at a very early stage.
Best wishes, David
Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.
Hello David,
You are absolutely correct...
I'm a worrier (and a coward...)
I should stop posting. I agree, I need to calm down as Bob advised.
I appreciate your words of encouragement. As always, they are very much appreciated
