Thursday can not come quick enough, after what seems an eternity of appointments, procedures, RT and issues, I am clear to travel.
My Oncologist has been wonderful, fitting my next appointment into my schedule and ensuring that I have sufficient supplies of tablets.
For those of you that are just commencing this journey, when all appears so confusing, anxious and terrifying, I assure there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Am I fixed? I have no idea, nor do the specialists know until we stop the medication in 16 months time! Am I in a better place than I was in January of 2025? Without doubt, gosh some of it has been extremely difficult and I still suffer sweats, tiredness and the odd bowl/bladder issue, but heck, if that is it! Bring it on.
I have been blessed/fortunate to have received treatment at The Freeman Cancer Specialist Unit and to receive the post code lottery for Abiraterone.
So my pouch is packed with my medication and I am off to escape this cold blustery weather.
Stay as positive as you can when things seem dark and grasp what you can when it comes along.
Being able to get reasonable European travel insurance again after having the existing cover cancelled is a very welcome and very positive milestone on this journey. We treated ourselves to ten days in the warmth of the Canaries, booked 12 months after the first high PSA revelation. Enjoy your time away. As Mr U says, you definitely deserve it...
