Frequent loo visits after treatment

Hi all

I finished my RT treatment in early January. I had 20 sessions of this after I had HT for 6 months. I then had to wait 6 months until I had a PSA test. The reading was 0.28 which was more than I could have wished for having being diagnosed with a reading of 9.85. I then had a telephone appointment with my oncologist who told me that my cancer was in remission. Hooray!. Just being monitored now with having PSA tests every 6 months for the next 2 years, but I still find myself having frequent visits to the loo throughout the day and often go 3 or 4 times during the night. Has anyone else experienced this or is it normal to pay frequent visits to the loo. My next PSA test is not until the end of December. Any advice/comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Good Morning

Well the PSA is great - the loo visits are not!!  Like you I am up 2/3 time a night but accept that with a combination of Radiotherapy and Age (70) it's probably the best it gets.

We have just been chatting about this on this thread:

     Night-time toilet trips

There are a few tips and some advice there including medication, pelvic floor exercises and bladder training.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Thanks for your feedback Brian. Much appreciated Thumbsup

  • Yes,  , I'm up in the night several times too after completing RT in July, particularly in the first few hours. It's weird as I pass a lot of water in the night, up to a litre, but try not to drink much after 6pm. It is very slowly getting better. After advice on here I have started bladder training and I'm restricting myself to just water and decaf hot drinks as far as possible to see if that improves the situation.

  • Hi I'm very much the same as you I take tamsolusin and it really helps ask you GP if you can give it a try I believe there are other meds out there as well.

  • Hi,

I've found it easier to sleep on the toilet and visit my wife in the bedroom a few times a night, haha.

But seriously,  I'm exactly the same with multiple trips of a night time and I've not had RT yet, just 5 months of HT.

    All the best

    Jay
