Well l went to see my eye specialist last thursday after having yet another MRI [l hate those bloody things] nothing showing up to say why l have lost my sight in my left eye. she thinks it is the cancer cells in my blood making it thick and cutting off the bloody supply to my eye, to cut a long story short l have lost my left eye and there is nothing they can do about it. To make matters even worse it could happen to my other eye, every morning l wake up and very slowly open my eyes just in case. lf l do lose my sight all the medication will stop l cannot imagine being blind. l have now taken to the drink not becuse l m a wuss but becase drink thins the blood [so l am told] l can tell you all this untill l had that PSA test in February there was nothing wrong with me now l feel like l am dropping apart at the seems and l am beginning to wish l had never had it.
Hello Billy (billy)
Thank you for the post. I am so sorry to read about your ongoing issues with you eyesight.
My personal thoughts are (don't forget I am not medically trained).
* First off you need to speak to both your GP and your Cancer Consultant (oncologist or urologist) about this issue.
* My thoughts are if it's the thicker blood that's causing it would it not be easy for your team to consider blood thinners.
* Alcohol is NEVER the answer - whoever told you. Yes it's great in moderation but the Government Guidelines are only 16 units of alcohol per week.
Please don't stop taking any medication you have been prescribed before you have had a meeting with your professionals. Please do let us know how you get on.
Best wishes - Brian.
