I am due to begin 20 Fractions of RT in the not to distant future, just wondering if it's possible to pause during the treatment for an unforeseen emergency circumstance, not related to the treatment, eg family bereavement or something of that nature, whilst understanding it's not ideal, would it make any difference to the clinical outcome if say it had to be paused for whatever reason for a couple of weeks or so during the treatment
Hello Aubutied1c171
Good question but the answer is NO! My understanding is that the radiotherapy works on a cumulative basis and indeed it's my understanding that a significant pause in fractions could leave you at risk of the cancer returning.
There is no issue with missing the two days at weekend.
Best wishes - Brian.

Thanks for your answer millibob, I will probably also confirm with my oncologist at the next meeting, but gives me a better idea of where I stand if unforeseen circumstances occur
My wife had Covid when I was having RT. I was told to test every day for it and was told that if I contracted it they’d prepare a RT session for me in isolation. I nevertheless wore masks once my wife tested positive. I never did test positive. The radiographers were adamant about me not missing a session
