So had my biopsy on Monday 18th August. Received a letter in post the next day to say that my next appointment was going to be on Thursday 25th September. Prostate nurse said you should have your results in around 3 weeks from the biopsy date. Anyway rang the Urologist’s secretary last Tuesday to check if I would be getting my results before the 25th and she said no that I would be getting them on that date. Thought it would have been a quicker process, If they found anything alarming or aggressive in the results of the biopsy, would I be right in thinking that they would call me in sooner or is that just the way they roll with these things ? Thanks.
Hi Dave HS , so the PIRADS 4/5 means that they think there is a good chance of PCa. From the Biopsy on 18 August to a meeting on 25 September is probably longer than most results. In my view, your Health Authority is either currently overwhelmed or the results are low and you have been prioritised behind urgent cases. Either way, remember that your PSA is fairly low and nothing found on the DRE, so if anything it is not likely to be very advanced. If you have access to the NHS App you might get to see the results that way, but many Trusts (my own included) haven’t managed to connect hospital test results onto my App. Make sure that you have all your questions written down before you go to the appointment and try and take someone with you (as 4 ears are better than 2!). Feel free to ask any questions on here and please let us know how you get on.
Best wishes, David

Hi Dave
Your PSA is near normal so good news there.
Did the MRI report say exactly what they have seen within the gland?
U never know biopsy could come back negative but even if positive does sound like easy to treat, I am assuming that any tumour is situated within the gland, with that PSA would be unusual if not the case.
Good luck with the biopsy result
Steve
Hi Steve, I haven’t got the full MRI report yet but have requested it, the “area of concern’ is located at the top of the prostate he said. When he was doing the biopsy he flagged that it was tricky to get at but he got the samples that were needed. What’s some what reassuring as you said that my PSA are elevated for my age but not extremely high but the fact the Pi-Rad was between 4-5 is a worry I suppose. No history of Prostate Cancer that I’m aware of in the family but my Grand Father had an operation on his Prostate on his eariy 60’s that wasn’t cancer related. So if it is indeed PC that I get diagnosed with hopefully it’s in the early stages and not aggressive ! Thanks for the response !
I wouldn't think too much about Pi-Rad. you are aware that could be cancer anyway so that is all it refers to
I always think that the Mri is one of the most important parts as it can confirm that any cancer is contained in the gland or spread outside.
as have mentioned, with your psa would be surprised if gone very far.
come back when u know more about the Mri, see if it mentions any potential tumour size in mm , obviously the smaller the better
Best wishes
Steve
