Dealing with night sweats

Hi everyone. I've been on bicalutamide for ten days or so now and have been waking up in a bit of a sweat. Last night I had my first proper one, waking up with the bed sheet soaking wet. Not boding well. Can anyone help with lessening the impact with the stuff they take or do or is it something I'm just going to have to put up with whilst I'm on the hormones?  Can it get better over time for some people?  Thanks so much for any thoughts.

  • Hey Phil

Brian will recommend Sage tablets as I’ve seen in the forum him recommending . My OH has been lucky as has a few mainly after his Prostap injection for a few days .

don’t know if you’ve heard about cooling mats for beds . They are good also

hope the sweats reduce once your body gets used to the new meds

    take care & hugs

  • Thanks so much Liz. I really appreciate it. I will have a look at what you suggest. Yes, sage tea was something I think I saw. Phil

  • You can also try evening primrose oil

  • Hello Phil

As  - I am on "Menoforce" sage tablets from Holland and Barrett (and Amazon) expensive and take a few days to kick in but they work for me.

There are medical options if these don't work.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Well maybe just talking about it helpsSlight smile. I was not looking forward going to bed last night. No night sweats at all!  First night in a few. I've carefully positioned the fan in the bedroom towards me. Perhaps that helps.  I've ordered some of the sage tablets that Brian uses. My other half works for H and B so I can make use of his staff discount!  I'm also back on the evening primrose (thanks Agent 99). I have taken it in the past because it's supposed to be helpful with my MS.

    Thanks again everyone.

  • I’ve been put on Medroxyprogesterone tablets to try to alleviate these and hot flushes ( sage didn’t work ) . Been on them a week now with no effect . Maybe they take longer to have any effect   You could ask about these if you are still troubled

    cheers
