My LH completed his 6 cycles of Docetaxyl chemo on Tues. He had the dose reduced to 70% and has coped v well.
His psa has come right down from the 4432 in Oct 24 and was 1.63 at blood test pre 5th cycle. With ADT it was down to 7.4 before chemo.
Unfortunately the psa was missed on Mon in pre infusion bloods..He had the infusion Tues a.m and they did the missing psa on Thurs a.m This result was 2.9.
We were disappointed that the decreasing trend, other than once between 2nd & 3rd when there was an extra wk recovery, didnt continue.
Ive told myself all the possible reasons this may have happened, that I've learned about here and from other information, but I cant shift a worry. At my request the Oncology N Nurse Specialist has booked a rpt psa and a testosterone (she said they dont routinely do those but go by the psa ) on 1/9, before we have a planning for radiotherapy appt (due to start Oct) with our Oncologist. LH has Prostap 3/12 and is about to start reducing the steroids as advised now chemo finished.
I'm seeking any advice/comments on the above and also should we be asking about an ARPi. as he was too late for triple therapy? Will ADT be sufficient until radiotherapy.
I'm hoping I'm just feeling unnecessarily concerned as there is now a break after all the intensity of the last 18wks.
Thank you all in anticipation. Sending all good wishes to everyone.

Hello Sue (Suekee)
I think he's done well to get through his Chemotherapy and you now have a break whilst the Chemotherapy and Prostap keep the little blighters at bay.
Whilst a "small" increase in PSA isn't welcome there are plenty of reasons for it. I would wait and see what the results of the retest on 1 September. Let's be honest a reduction from 4432 to 2.9 is brilliant.
Personal advice, recover from the Chemotherapy, enjoy life as much as you can and leave the worry behind for now. Radiotherapy is on the way in October to kill off the little sods for good!
Best wishes - Brian.
