After Radiotherapy

Good evening, just curious here if any of my fellow PC patients have been in the same situation as myself and had 33 fractions of radiotherapy post radical prostatectomy ? Gladly I was given the good news  of undetectable PSA back on the 26th of last month and during discussion at my oncologist meeting I stated that I had niggling aches and pains sporadically and in varying joints, muscles etc. He did state that this is associated with the Prostap hormone injection and as I’m undetectable I could stop the course before the 2 year plan. I have no intention of stopping though as they do more good than harm and I’ve only 5 more to get . Hot flushes are brutal at the moment but that increases fatigue due to broken sleep and the warmer weather ( even here in Scotland) exacerbates things a bIt. So just curious really as to how anyone may be experiencing things post Radiotherapy ? We are all different so it’s an interesting topic I find. I keep in touch with fellow patients from my weeks at Ninewells through our WhatsApp group appropriately named The Pelvic Thrusts ! We were originally the Prostate Boys until another good friend made during this time , a woman called Susan who was being treated for rectal cancer , joined the group hence the name change ! The prostate boys were never going to be a successful boy band anyway so Susan did us a favour ! Hopefully that gave you a wee smile , it certainly amused our radiographers and my oncologist ! Best wishes to all HeartHeart

  • Hi  thanks for the chuckle!  Very similar point to another post I have just seen.  I had 37 sessions (& 3 SABR) and have been on Zoladex for 8 years.  Yes I get pains all over - are they caused by RT or HT or would a 76 year old normally get these?  I just don’t know.  The only time I have felt really bad since my diagnosis, it has always been due to treatment so it’s easy to blame.  I know that without treatment I would be dead, so happy to accept the rough with the smooth.  Keep on that curative path.

    Best wishes, David
