Hello
I am just wondering if anyone has been told about 'ceiling of care" ?
Thank you
Hi Dipt, ceiling of care, is a way of determining an appropriate level of treatment and intervention in relation to to the illness/injury, a way of making sure that their treatment is appropriate and of benefit, or possible benefit to the patient with their best interest the priority, and done with the agreement of everyone involved, and that no intervention which is detrimental to the patient be allowed.

Thank you for your reply.
An oncology nurse said it to us in a 'phone call last week with no previous discussions. I feel as though we need to talk to her again to determine how these decisions are made without my husband being heard.
I appreciate your reply. Thank you.
Your welcome my friend, I would ask your oncology nurse, to get you in touch with your cancer nurse specialist, CNS, as they will be in the best position to answer your questions, your husband's opinion should always be final when treatments are being planned, his consent matters, be firm but polite, and good luck.

Hi Dipt
In my opinion you need to phone the nurse who told you this and ask either a face to face or phone consultation to explain what this means . It’s not fair using medical terminology that we don’t understand. I get ratty when they use jargon as a lot I do understand but my OH doesn’t .
best wishes & hope you get the answers your looking for.
Liz & OH xx
