Good evening people.
I am 5 weeks post prostatectomy and everything I thought was going well has just gone belly up.
i knew there was going to be incontinence following the prostatectomy but thought I had swerved that one. Over the initial two weeks after the removal of the catheter things seemed to improve on a daily basis and by the end of week two I was dry all night and getting up only once rather than the 6 or seven times prior to the op. I was using only 2or three pads.
Then this week I was back to square one, in fact I now have more of an issue than I ever had. Every time I stand up I am incontinent and I can only go two or three steps before I am incontinent again. It only goes without saying that coughing laughing etc has the same effect. To make matters worse I am now conscious of a strong odour when I change my pads. My wife says I am imagining it but it is real to me. All this despite the fact I am sticking religiously to Mr Squeezy!!!
All this appears to have started after I became constipated despite efforts to prevent this effort, diet, fluids and laxatives. Could I have damaged something passing a large poo.
Any thought and suggestions readily accepted.
I know there is no avoiding the fact that the operation was done because I had cancer and it was done to prolong even save my life but the thought of this being me for the foreseeable is daunting.
