Hello Dave (Davej123)
I have just noticed your post has gone unanswered. It was a quiet day yesterday on the group so by me replying your post will be "bumped up" back to the top of the page and I hope seen and answered by someone who has "been there - got the T shirt".
I can't answer any of your questions myself as i still have 95% of my prostate however digging through my resources I have found this which may help:
Sexual well being - Erection Problems.
I do hope this helps and wish you well moving forward.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi Davej123. Well I am nearly 2.5 years after my op. I cannot believe how quickly that time has gone.
My overall suggestion is to talk to your surgeon to determine if nerves were spared if you haven't already had you post op consultation and then an ED specialist if that is an option provided in your area.
Everybody's situation is different for various reasons. My op was non-nerve sparing by agreement and also I have suffered from Type 2 diabetes for 20 years, which prior to my op had a big effect on my performance.
I have not got back to full erection but it has improved slightly.
I managed to get a vacuum pump via my ED specialist and GP about 2 years ago. I have found it works amazingly well, however it is a bit of a bother. There are cheap non-NHS pumps available but my thinking is they probably do not work very well. My ED specialist also offered penile injections but they are quite frightening to a whimp like me, so I declined. However she did say I can contact her at any time if I wanted to try them.
I have been on 5mg Tadalafil since the op for penile recovery but I don't think they actually help in any way in achieving an erection. I have also tried the maximum strength of Tadalafil and all other ED tabs but none of them have seemed to work. There are other options (implants, creams) but I have not tried those.
Mine is not a positive story but I have read many accounts from men who have had no problems and who have recovered over a period of time (same as with incontinence). Just bare in mind that it is very early days for you in your continuing journey, even if it does not seem like that.
Hope your PSA result comes back good.
I didn't have surgery, but hormone/radiotherapy and am now nearly 2 years on from the radiotherapy and11 months on from the last hormone implant. However, I still have total ED - not so much as a twitch!
I have tried Viagra, a pump, a pump with rings, and finally Cialis - but nothing will raise 'the old man'. It's now too late to resurrect my former 'long-term' relationship as she now goes elsewhere for her 'fun' and I just live as an ATM and occasional conversationist.
Hello Everyone
I know it's a much talked about subject and it affects almost everyone on the group. Although it's not just about ED we have this thread on the General Cancer Chat Group:
There are posts on here from quite a few of our Community members - reading these may help, and feel free to post in this thread.
Best wishes - Brian.
