Hello dear Brave Fighters,

I have had my prostatectomy and I am now at home and dealing with the recovery process, both physically and psychologically.  The wounds are healing ok, some of the sutures split due to coughing and sneezing, but otherwise, it seems ok.  The regrowing of hair, however, is driving me nuts!  Does anyone know if there any methods to mitigate this itching?

  • Have you tried a non scented moisturiser or aloe Vera   Gel
when my OH had his RT  they advised to use non scented shower gels too and wear loose cotton clothing

    best wishes

  • Hi Liz & OH,

Thank you very much for your reply. I will definitely try them out. I hope the recovery is going well.

    Take care

  • Hello

I trust the surgery went well - I still have most of my Prostate but the Hormone Therapy drove me nuts with itchy skin.

After trying almost every type of moisturiser on the market I settled for two "Child's Farm Baby Moisturiser" and "Aproderm" - the latter being the best! I do appreciate we all have different skin!

I do hope you get sorted.

    Best wishes - Brian

  • Good morning Millibob,

Thank you for the information, I will look into the ointments.  Apparently, the surgery went well, thankfully I was asleep when Da Vinci had its turn!

    Good luck with your recovery.

    Take care

  • Da Vinci is only a week away for me. Are there any “insider” tips on how best to cope with the healing process? I usually heal fast, so I’m hoping this will be that same, but I’ve never had an operation and am clueless about what you can and can’t do with multiple small wounds..

On top of that, my main worry is my four year old twins running into the bedroom in the morning and either jumping on me because they will forget or accidentally standing on the night bag!
