Hi My name is Jonathan I,m 71

I've got Stage 4 prostrate cancer - Metastases - PSA level 1,2

I've had a biopsy

I'm on Hormone therapy and awaiting Radiotherapy

Anyone out there give me guidance on car insurance please. Will it be too expensive for me to drive now

Thank-you for taking the time to read my post

All the best

Jonathan

  • Hello Jonathan,

The link below gives guidance on driving with cancer. I've had lung cancer and prostate cancer and didn't have to notify DVLA or my insurer, so unless there's some complication I don't see any problem.

If you're really worried about it, best to give your insurer a call and ask them to confirm you're OK to continue.

  • Hi Jonathan ( ) unless you are on some special medication, PCa shouldn’t impair your driving so no need to notify anyone.  David

  • Hi Excavator & David 2017

I just wanted to take a moment to thank each of you for your advice and support. Your words have been incredibly helpful and encouraging during this challenging time. I'm truly grateful for this wonderful community.

    Best wishes to all,

    Jonathan (Jonney)

  • You don’t have to notify the DVLA and it won’t affect your insurance.Ive just insured a new Porsche Panamera for £708.

  • Thanks Roger That

Insurers tend to put your insurance up for any lame reason.... Should i mention Prostate cancer or just ignore it,

    Thanks for your reply

    Nice car, by the way....

  • Jonney ( ), health isn’t a risk factor for car insurance unless it affects your ability to drive (eg eyes, limbs or brain).  So a stroke would be notifiable to DVLA & Insurers but PCa unless it spread to your brain or eyes is not notifiable.  David

  • It’s always better to mention it but they will say it won’t affect the price. You don’t have to notify the DVLA.
