Hello All

I just thought it might be a good idea to have a new thread as Christmas and New Year are catching us up very quickly.

I appreciate that as we get nearer the time people will be busy with family time etc so I thought we could use this thread to discuss Christmas and the New year. Your plans for the festive period and hopes and aspirations for 2024.

There is one thing we all have in common and bonds us together Prostate Cancer - either as the person diagnosed/wife/partner/carer or family member and for some of us 2023 has been a tough old time. It's been a very good year though on the forum I think - everyone has pulled together and been very thoughtful, welcoming to new Community members and amazing at providing help, information and support to each other.- that's what we do.

On a personal note I would like to thank everyone who has helped me during the year - especially since I have had the "Community Champions" hat on - it's very much appreciated and long may it continue, thank you again!!. There will of course be the usual support throughout the festive season from the Community.

So on that note stay safe and have the best Christmas possible and a great 2024.

Best wishes - Brian and Mrs Millibob (Lorraine).

  • We gave up filling forms in as they all use the same algorhythms - so we started ringing round - we knew we had told them everything about our illness (Lorraine has issues - medical ones!!). i thought the forms were complicated si talking to a human was great.

We got the best quote for both of us - annual worldwide (our pad in Turkey is in Asia!!) and it came out about £ 780!!

You don't have the monopoly on Grumpy Old Gits. I have one here as Daisy the mobility scooter went on a go slow this morning because someone (the boring old fart) forgot to put her on charge after our night out. One good thing is that it made him walk part of the way home after our coffee out - and yes it is sunny and warm here again - still T-shirt weather.

Here's hoping that for all of you at the start of your journey you find some level of peace and acceptance, and that your treatment goes well. For those of you on a curative pathway, long may it continue. For everyone on the non curative rollercoaster then may each form of treatment last for a long time before the next round has to start. And overall let's hope for a cure soon. All the best to everyone for 2024. Keep positive. Life is not a rehearsal so grab it with both hands and enjoy it.

  • Alwayshope, It is sunny here and I am in my t shirt but inside with the central heating on full blast. Husband said shall I turn the heating down if you are hot, my look said it all. Happy new year xx

  • Ha ha ha I like it.

  • Sunny in Oldham too at the moment. And yes Shar we have the central heating on too!

Lorraine keeps saying "what about the gas bill" and I keep replying "what about the gas bill - I flippin (expletive removed) pay it and beside I want to die old not cold".

We have a weather warning from 5.00pm for heavy rain today but not even a thermo-dynamic nuclear blast is going to get me out of my PJ's today!!

  • Quote of the day from Brian:

I want to die old not cold".

  • I just hope if Lorraine sends you out to the shop you don't go in your PJ's. We walked past a cafe the other day and there was a couple in their in PJ's and dressing gowns I did wonder if they had wandered across the road from the Travelodge. But why would you, it is one of my pet hates

  • It's a strange one that. A few weeks ago we were in Tesco (other superstores are available) and we passed a couple doing their shopping pushing a trolly in their night attire. Number 2 daughter Sarah is a primary school teacher and at the start of the school year the head had to put out a parent-mail reminding parents to get dressed in a morning when bringing their children to school - after all if you just throw the kids out of the car and go back to bed you miss all the scuttlebutt in the playground.
